About Us

“Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.”

This is the official mission of the Scout Association.

At the 3rd Harpenden Scout group we want to offer adventurous and interesting activities, alongside personal development opportunities for young people. This mean promoting their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being.

We are one of the three oldest Scout Troops in Harpenden, formed back in 1908 when the Scout movement was in it’s infancy. We have been running continuously since then for well over 100 years.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
